A work taking shape
The Heart Behind
Refined by Fire Press
Writing, restoration and Christian voices worth preserving.
I am building Refined by Fire Press out of a love for Christ, a love for books, and a conviction that words entrusted to one generation should not disappear from the next.
My own writing grows out of faith, suffering, recovery and ordinary life. Alongside my books, I want Refined by Fire Press to preserve Christian history, restore the writings of revivalists and work with other authors to bring their passion projects to life, with care for their voice and vision.
We do not manufacture the fire.
We preserve the evidence that it burned.
The place
A history worth remembering.
The Azusa Street revival began in Los Angeles in 1906. From the mission at 312 Azusa Street, a newspaper called The Apostolic Faith carried reports, letters and testimonies to readers beyond the congregation.
That connection between a place, its people and the written record matters to me. A photograph can show us where people gathered. A surviving page lets us listen to what they said. I want to approach both with care.
The people
A voice deserves careful listening.
William J. Seymour led the Azusa Street mission. His story is one of the reasons I am drawn to the lives, sermons and testimonies behind revival history.
For me, restoration begins with respect for the person who wrote the words. It means returning to the source, checking details and making the text readable while remaining faithful to the original.
I want readers to know whose voice they are hearing, where the words came from, and what has been changed in preparing an edition.
The hope
Something worth handing on.
My hope is to build a lasting home for my own work, carefully restored Christian literature and the passion projects of other authors. Books prepared with patience. Sources identified. Each author's voice and vision treated with care.
The Press is still taking shape. This page shares the heart behind it as the work continues.
